Filosofía.EN https://fdca.com/index.php/en/en/en/premios/8-proyectos/29-organisation https://fdca.com/index.php/en/en/en/premios/8-proyectos/29-organisation FDCA, Fernández del Castillo Architects SLP, was founded in 1991 under the direction of Horacio Fernández del Castillo. In 1996 it adopted its current corporate form and latter on, it adopted the form of a professional society with the modification of the Corporations Law of 2007.
At the present time, FDCA is formed by a team of young architects of a great technical and professional capacity, who develop their professional activity in the field of architecture, rehabilitation and urban design, and have an excellent international presence. The firm FDCA has expanded its horizons in previous years through projects and the participation in competitions in Great Britain, Italy, Dubai, Morocco, Equatorial Guinea and China. In the latter country, through the firm Shanghai Sainasia Architecture Design Consultant Co. Ltd that has been a bridgehead for Spanish architecture in China.
The course of Fernández del Castillo Architects SLP has evolved from an architecture based on rehabilitation and restoration of the architectural heritage to a sustainable architecture from a focused approach in Spain to the development of an activity in the international scene.
Fernández del Castillo's strength is based on its team of young architects who are prepared to deal with Spanish and international projects. The studio's philosophy when recruiting new workers aims at having people who master computer programs, have international experience, are willing to improve their technical skills and show enthusiasm for the development of their professional careers in the firm.

Sustainable Architecture and Integrated Rehabilitation.

Our work philosophy in the field of architecture is based on architecture sustainability, in its broadest sense, from the respect to traditional and monumental architecture, whose recycling as an architecture and functional container is the best way of allowing for sustainable architecture, to today's new design architecture that understands sustainability from all points of view.
We believe in an architecture without unnecessary showiness, and without costly middleware to justify a sustainability that increases the building cost and aims at image income of the architectonic work for the designer at the client's expense.
We understand that sustainability is a very broad concept that begins with town planning, with the layout of new city, the adequate aspects, the public transport design, the network of green spaces, etc. but that can be even more efficient when using obsolete infrastructures and urban zones, whose regeneration saves a lot of money which would be invested in new developments.
Building rehabilitation is one of the old activities of our studio and it fits perfectly in the idea of broad sustainability since it reuses buildings whose demolition would be a total waste, from an economic and built environment protection point of view.
We advocate a functional and sustainable rehabilitation, providing a new life to old buildings, using technical and design resources to improve the integral accessibility conditions, thermal insulating in façades, carpentry and roofing, the use of sunlight for improving interior lightning in a natural way and for heat and photovoltaic energy generation. The placement of high-efficiency installations for the air conditioning, ventilation and electricity network.
The studio's architecture also uses resources such as rainwater harvesting, grey water for various compatible uses in the building, geothermal energy and reservoir roofs with gardens of creeping plants.

Spanish Architecture.

The studio's architecture fits in the tradition of the most genuine Spanish architecture, in which the adaptation to the built environment, the rational use of volumes and materials, the containment of the costs for the projects and works, and considering the building's interior spaces an essential value of architecture, are identity signs. FDCA's architecture is committed to its customer, whether public or private, making an honest architecture from the economic resources point of view and makes an innovative use of the latest integrated sustainability techniques.

Specialties.

The studio Fernández del Castillo Architects has a wide experience in the rehabilitation of cultural buildings in existing ones, Administration institutional buildings, equipment and actions in integrated areas of rehabilitation. The new architecture counts with projects in the field of education, hotel management and sport and in the tertiary sector. In the projects that have been carried out in China, this experience has been extended into commercial equipment and actions of commercial renovation in integrated areas.

International Development.

Fernández del Castillo's vocation for the international field is inalienable, both through its own means and through the Spanish architectural firm in China "Spanish Architecture in Asia" (SAINASIA), whose business project aims to welcome different Spanish architectural studios, which wish to develop on the Asian market without the need to establish headquarters in China, something which is always complicated.
This decision culminated with the success in several architecture competitions in this country that are laying the groundwork for the stable development of the firm FDCA in the Asian markets.]]>
