Jazan Regional Museum is mainly inspired by traditional Arabian fortresses and hand-made straw huts, the latter scattered throughout the city as a part of the skyline, with the sea in the background. These ideas diversify into three responses whose common features are lattice-work and courtyards which form part of the cultural heritage building techniques used for combating overheating and exposure to the sun while improving living and environmental conditions inside the museum. Roofing changes in each solution enable the building to evoke its surroundings, in this case the sea, longstanding Arabian domes or traditional huts. |
