The proposal investigates a void-mass relation between public and private spaces in the building, by creating a “wrapped up in itself” volume with optimal conservation conditions and the desired intimate atmosphere for an art museum. The resulting volume is carved and manipulated to illuminate, show its content or give access to the interior spaces where light becomes the main theme. White concrete is the chosen material to evoke the hydraulic lime concretes used by the Romans. The abstract architectural language draws inspiration from Oteiza's sculptures, developing a strong, contemporary formal language of our times. |
